James Wade is no longer the coach of the Chicago Sky

The Chicago Sky announced on Tuesday, September 6, they have parted ways with James Wade, who had been the team's head coach since 2019.

The separation comes after the Sky finished a disappointing season with a 14-20 record, missing out on the playoffs. In three seasons as coach, Wade went 53-41 with the Sky, but could not get them past the second round of the playoffs.

Wade won the Coach of the Year award in his first season with the Sky in 2019, as he led the team to a 20-14 record and a berth in the semifinals.

But the Sky took a step back in 2020, going 12-10 in the shortened season and losing in the first round of the playoffs.

This past season, the Sky never seemed to find their footing, and Wade was fired after a 1-5 start to the season.
