LIVE Al Nassr vs Al Shorta score, AFC Champions League Elite: NAS 1-1 SHR; Daoud scores leveller
Saudi giants Al Nassr were held to a 1-1 draw by Iraqi outsiders Al Shorta in the AFC Champions League on Saturday
Al Shorta's Ahmed Daoud canceled out a first-half opener by Al Nassr's Giuliano in the Group D clash in Riyadh.
The result leaves Al Nassr, the 2019 runners-up, in third place in the group on four points from three games, with Iraqi side Al Shorta fourth on three points.
Uzbekistan's Pakhtakor, who beat Al Sepahan of Iran 2-1 on Saturday, top the group with seven points, with Al Sepahan second on six.
Al Nassr forced Al Shorta goalkeeper Ahmed Basil into two early saves, with Giuliano twice denied from close range
The Brazilian forward, on loan from Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir, was not to be denied for long, though, and he fired Al Nassr ahead from just outside the area.
But Al Shorta leveled when Daoud was allowed to run onto a long ball and chip the ball over advancing Al Nassr goalkeeper Brad Jones
Al Nassr had chances to win it in the second half, but substitute Khalid Al Ghannam wasted a great chance late on when he fired tamely at Basil
The result was a disappointment for Al Nassr coach Miguel Angel Russo, who replaced Pedro Emanuel in July after the Portuguese left for Santos in Brazil.
